Health Surveys
Health interview surveys are a useful tool for characterizing health and risky behaviors and the health status of populations. The need for culturally-appropriate and culturally-sensitive survey instruments is essential for obtaining relevant and accurate information. Standardized health interview survey methodologies, including sampling techniques and survey instruments, enable investigators to examine trends over time and compare survey results among different Arctic countries. The Working Group will evaluate health interview surveys currently in use
and is
actively engaged in the planning of a health survey. The planned survey is a
longitudinal cohort study of the determinants for cardiovascular disease,
diabetes, and cancer among the Inuit in Greenland, Canada, and Alaska with
special emphasis on diet, physical activity, and psycho-social factors.
